The Punjab & Haryana High Court has set aside orders passed under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, after finding that the Maintenance Tribunal’s decision was rendered by a single-member Sub-Divisional Magistrate contrary to a State notification requiring a three-member composition.

The case concerned Mamraj, an octogenarian, who had sought cancellation of a transfer deed dated March 18, 2024 executed in favour of two private respondents.
