P&H: Upholds PLA Award In Life Insurance Dispute; Says Writ Interference Lies Only For Jurisdictional Or Procedural Errors
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed by Bharti AXA Life Insurance Company challenging a Permanent Lok Adalat (PLA) award that allowed widow’s claim under a life insurance policy. PLA awards are final and binding under Section 22E of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, and may be interfered with in writ jurisdiction only for manifest procedural or fundamental errors or jurisdictional excess—none of which was shown.
