The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the State of Haryana to pay ex gratia to a CRPF constable who suffered 85% disability from a gunshot injury in 1995, holding that his entitlement crystallised when he was medically boarded out in 2020. 

The petitioner, a Haryana resident who joined CRPF in 1987, lost his right leg in a 1995 operation. Though initially proposed to be boarded out in 2008, he was retained in service and finally discharged on medical grounds in July 2020. He sought ex gratia under the State’s 2006 policy, as amended.
