The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a Union of India writ petition challenging an Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT), Chandigarh order that granted disability pension to ex-Havildar and rounded off his disability from 20% to 50% for life with effect from April 1, 2019.

The Union of India argued that a Medical Board had assessed the respondent’s disability—Idiopathic Generalised Epilepsy—at 20% and found it neither attributable to nor aggravated by military service, and therefore the AFT erred in granting disability benefits and rounding off.
