P&H: Motor Accident Compensation For 9-Year-Old Accident Victim, Applies Minimum Wages, 40% Future Prospects And 18 Multiplier Raising compensation to Rs.27.10 lakh from Rs.4.96 lakh

The Punjab & Haryana High Court has substantially enhanced compensation for a child injured in a 2009 road accident, raising it to Rs 27.10 lakh with 9% interest per annum. Appeal filed by Kulvinder Singh against a 2013 MACT award of Rs 4.96 lakh.

The appeal was confined to quantum. The claimant argued that the Tribunal had granted a lump sum without applying the settled method for future loss of income and non-pecuniary heads. The insurer supported the award.
