The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a contempt petition alleging non-compliance with directions to reserve 25% seats for children from Economically Weaker Sections and Disadvantaged Groups under Section 12(1)(c) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.

Petitioner had moved contempt proceedings against officials alleging that despite Division Bench orders in a PIL, private unaided schools were not admitting EWS/DG students and that the State had failed to operationalise an admissions portal. The Trust also complained of intimidation and obstruction during awareness activities, pressing for action including criminal contempt.
