P&H: 10 Kg Opium Grants Bail in NDPS Case Citing Long Custody and Slow Trial
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted bail to Navpreet Singh in an NDPS case involving 10 kg of opium, holding that prolonged incarceration and delay in trial justified release despite the commercial quantity recovery.
The case arose from an FIR registered at Lalru police station in SAS Nagar after a police team claimed to have recovered two bags containing opium from a car during vehicle checking on 25 August 2024. The prosecution said both accused were carrying the contraband and formalities relating to seizure, sealing, FIR and arrest were completed thereafter.
