The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Nasib Kaur challenging an order that allowed the complainant in a cheque bounce case to examine Baljit Singh, the then Ex-Sarpanch of the village, as an additional witness.

The case arose from a complaint under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, in which the complainant alleged that a cheque of Rs. 6 lakh issued by the accused towards an existing liability was dishonoured. The complainant said that despite legal notice, payment was not made.
