P&H: Grants Anticipatory Bail, Says Cooperation in Investigation Cannot Mean Forced Self-Incrimination.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has made absolute the interim anticipatory bail granted to a petitioner in an FIR registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, arising out of allegations relating to a forged agreement to sell.

The petitioner had sought anticipatory bail in FIR No. 89 dated 21 May 2026 registered at Police Station Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The prosecution alleged offences under Sections 318(4), 338, 336(3), 340(2), 351(2) and 61(2) of the BNS, corresponding to cheating, forgery, use of forged documents, criminal intimidation and conspiracy under the IPC framework.
