P&H: Quashes Section 174-A FIR After Settlement in Cheque Bounce Case

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has quashed an FIR registered under Section 174-A IPC against Jasvir Singh after the underlying cheque bounce complaint was amicably settled and withdrawn by the complainant.

Jasvir Singh had been facing a complaint under Sections 138 and 142 of the Negotiable Instruments Act before the Judicial Magistrate at Phul. During the pendency of that case, he did not appear before the court and was declared a proclaimed person. On that basis, an FIR under Section 174-A IPC was registered against him.
