P&H: Refuses to quash cheating and forgery case over bank withdrawals from deceased woman’s account
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has refused to interfere with criminal proceedings against a woman accused of forging the signatures of her husband’s first wife and withdrawing money from bank accounts and fixed deposits after the woman’s death.
Justice Surya Partap Singh was hearing a petition under Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code filed by Raj Mehmi alias Ram Piari, who challenged both the trial court’s summoning order and the revisional court’s order upholding it.
According to the complaint, the respondents are the daughters of Hans Raj Mehmi and his first wife, Raj Mehmi, who died in 1991....
