Upholds Injunction Against Electricity Board’s Rs.46,720 Demand Raised on Defective Meter
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a regular second appeal filed by the Haryana State Electricity Board, now H.V.P.N.L. Ltd., and upheld a decree protecting a consumer from recovery of a disputed electricity demand of Rs.46,720.80.
The case arose from a suit filed by consumer Gian Chand, who challenged a sundry charges bill raised by the Board. He said the amount was levied without notice and without any explanation of how it was calculated. He also sought protection against disconnection of his electricity connection.
