P&H: Upholds conviction in counterfeit currency case, reduces sentence to period already undergone
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has upheld the conviction of Daljit Singh in a counterfeit currency case but reduced his sentence to the period he had already undergone in custody.
The appeal arose from a 2003 FIR registered at Police Station Mehna, Moga, after a police patrol allegedly stopped a Maruti car on suspicion and recovered counterfeit currency notes from Daljit Singh and his co-accused Avtar Singh. The prosecution said 100 fake notes were recovered from Daljit Singh and 681 notes from Avtar Singh’s bag.
