P&H: Upholds Panjab University’s Decision Denying Retrospective Monetary Benefits to Retired Employee

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed by Ajaib Singh Cheema, a retired Panjab University employee, who sought retrospective monetary benefits linked to his notional promotions and seniority.

Cheema had initially joined the University as a clerk in 1961. He was dismissed from service in 1969 and was appointed afresh in 1978. He later moved to the stenotypist and stenographer cadre and was eventually granted notional promotions as Assistant, Superintendent and Assistant Registrar.
