P&H: Upholds Conviction For Sub-Standard Fertilizer, Grants One-Year Probation After 29-Year Trial

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has upheld the conviction of M/s Kasturi Lal Subash Chander and others for dealing in sub-standard fertilizer, but modified their sentence by releasing them on probation for one year. Justice Surya Partap Singh passed the order in an appeal arising from the 2005 judgment of the Special Judge, Kapurthala.

The case concerned allegations that the appellants had sold, stocked and distributed Single Super Phosphate fertilizer which did not meet the prescribed standards under the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985.
