P&H: Rejects Freedom Fighter’s Ward’s Plea for Service Extension Till 60

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed by Randhir Singh, who sought to continue in government service until the age of 60 years on the ground that he was a ward of a freedom fighter.

Justice Sudeep­ti Sharma was hearing Singh’s challenge to orders dated January 21, March 12 and March 31, 2020. The orders had rejected his request for continued service and resulted in his superannuation.

Singh relied on Punjab Government instructions dated April 4, 1985. According to him, these instructions permitted wards of freedom fighters to serve up to the age of 60...
