The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed by Ravinder Kumar, a Section Officer in Nagar Panchayat Mahilpur, who challenged his dismissal from service after being convicted in a criminal case arising out of the suicide of a contractor.

The petitioner had been convicted under Sections 306 and 506 of the IPC and sentenced to five years’ rigorous imprisonment with fine. The dismissal order was passed in February 2022, and his departmental appeal was later rejected by the appellate authority.
