P&H: Grants Bail in 974 Gram Heroin Case, Says Custody Cannot Continue Merely Due to Antecedents
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted regular bail to Lakhbir Singh @ Captain in an NDPS case involving recovery of 974 grams of heroin, observing that his continued detention as an undertrial was not warranted in the facts and circumstances of the case.
Justice Sumeet Goel noted that the petitioner had been in custody since 10 April 2026 and that the investigation was still ongoing. The Court said the trial, if it followed, would take considerable time, and the disputed issues raised by both sides were matters to be examined during trial.
