P&H: Rejects Workman’s Claim Filed After 19 Years Under Section 33-C(2) of Industrial Disputes Act as inordinate delay
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed a Letters Patent Appeal filed by a workman seeking benefits under Section 33-C(2) of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, holding that the claim was stale and barred by delay and laches.
The appellant, Hanuman, had been working as a Clerk with Fazilka Central Co-operative Bank Ltd. His services were terminated in 1979, and after a labour dispute, the Labour Court in 1991 ordered his reinstatement with continuity of service and back wages from the date of demand notice.
